Why The Rescue Bucket?

Disaster can strike at any moment, and being prepared can make all the difference. The Rescue Bucket is a one-of-a-kind emergency resource designed to keep you and your family safe during life’s most challenging times. Created by two Lahaina residents that experienced the Maui fires first hand, retired police officer Alfonzo Basurto and Chris Harlien. Alfonzo has extensive experience in disaster response and first-responder training, this all-in-one emergency kit is a must-have for every household. Having experienced the devastation of the 2023 Maui fires firsthand, Alfonzo and his family lost their home, businesses, and possessions. From this tragedy, the Rescue Bucket was born—a tool that ensures families have everything they need to survive and recover when disaster strikes.

Our Story

Rescue Bucket was created by Alfy and Chris, two residents of Lahaina, Maui, who experienced firsthand the devastating impact of natural disasters.

After Alfy and his family lost their home, and they both witnessed the gaps in disaster response during the 2023 Maui fires, they were inspired to create The Rescue Bucket.

Combining Alfy’s expertise as a retired sheriff’s deputy and disaster response trainer with Chris’s entrepreneurial experience, they designed a product to help families better prepare for emergencies. Our mission is to ensure no family faces a disaster unprepared.
